Carole of La Chatte Bottée turned me onto this boutique in Ottawa, Victoire Boutique.
She throws shoe parties there sometimes. I fell in love with their styling and immediately became a fan of their blog and their boutique. They have such a cute and clever eye for great clothing and great outfits! They carry Preloved, (where I work), Montreal designer Valerie Dumaine and Complex Geometries, my neighbour Lustre, Lily and Jae and more. You can buy online but popping into their boutique if you are in the Ottawa area will tickle your senses and charm you giddy.
I wanted to find out more about them and what they do and what inspires them!
What do you do?
We are two BFFs who own a shop called Victoire which is online and in Ottawa. We love supporting Canadian designers, eating pizza with pepper and gravy, making our line Steel Magnolias and dreaming of horseback ridding on a beach.
What inspires you to do what you do?
We are so furtunate to work with so many creative people that it feels like it is more a matter of finding time to actualize everything that inspires us. At this very moment we are inspired by biker babes, terrariums, giant eyeballs, lace collars and the eternal quest for the perfect vintage purse. We are always and forever refering back to Dolly Parton, Beyonce and Oprah for inspiration on beauty, power and generosity.
How did you get started?
We decided to jump right into pursuing our dream right out of University. We had a little bit of money saved up, the energy of youth and nothing to lose so we figured why not?! It was the best decision we've ever made and we would encourage everyone to do the same!
What is your current vice or trend or obsession?
Katie is totally into wearing socks with high heels, old-timey musical instruments and putting temporary tattoos on her cast. She is totally not into having a cast for the past 5 weeks :(
Regine is loving denim cut-offs, denim vests and showing a lace bra through a backless dress, see-through top or one with a deep scoop neck. She's also enjoying making fun of Katie's cast but misses her horse-back riding buddy.
What advice would you give to someone else trying to make their ideas a reality?
Start small so that you can grow over time and by listening to what your customers are looking for. But absolutly without a doubt do it, following you dreams will always work out! Remember: greatness is coming, greatness is you!
