Alyson Pearson: Illustrator

I found Alyson Pearson's art when I googled vintage shoes and the search pulled up her shoe anatomy drawing, which I love. It led me to her Redbubble.com page, where you can see more of her delightful art. I thought I'd ask her what inspires her and share with you some of her art!

What do you do?
My day job is Art Director of a natural health, environmental magazine. My whenever-I-get-the-time job is illustration and handmade greeting cards/garments.

What inspires you to do what you do?
Mainly other illustrators and designers. I'm a big fan of contemporary Japanese street fashion and hand made creations.

How did you get started?
I always enjoyed Art in High School, then after a couple of years out of school I decided I wanted to do something with my life that was creative and used illustration it was then that I discovered Graphic Design and I studied it in Sydney. From there I worked as a designer at a textiles company and got in to creating my own pieces.

What is your current vice or trend or obsession?
I love beautiful illustration and unique hand made things.

What advice would you give to someone else trying to make their ideas a reality?

Stick to it. It takes time to develop a style that is your own and to get out there.
I'm still working on it!

Any inspiring sites you want to mention?
Bec Winnel is an amazing illustrator and Peppermint Magazine is a great new eco-fashion mag, Indie art and design always has unique and inspirational things going on
